Safety Alert

A Statement of Privacy (sometimes called a Safety Alert) is a formal way to ensure your workplace or child’s school is legally and practically prepared to act as your first line of defense.

For Your Employer

Subject: Formal Confidential Safety Alert – [Your Name]

To [Manager’s Name/HR],

I am writing to formally notify you of a current safety risk regarding [Defendant’s Name]. A legal [Police Safety Order / Bail Condition / Protection Order] is currently in place which prohibits this individual from contacting me or coming within [e.g., 200 metres] of this workplace.

I request the following support:

  • Please ensure reception and security are aware that this person is not permitted on-site.
  • If this person calls the office or arrives at the premises, please contact the Police immediately via 111 and quote file number [Police File/Event Number].
  • Please keep this information strictly confidential among the necessary safety personnel.

Thank you for your support in ensuring a safe working environment.

For Your Children’s School/Daycare

Subject: Urgent: Updated Authorized Pickup and Safety Protocol – [Child’s Name]

To [Principal’s Name/Office Manager],

Please update the enrollment records for my child, [Child’s Name], effective immediately. Due to ongoing safety concerns and legal proceedings, [Defendant’s Name] is not authorized to pick up [Child’s Name] or make any contact with them on school grounds.

Action Required:

  • If [Defendant’s Name] arrives at the school, please deny access and contact the Police immediately via 111.
  • Please ensure all classroom teachers and duty staff are aware of this restriction.
  • I have attached a photo of the individual for identification purposes only.

I will provide a copy of the formal [Protection/Parenting] Order as soon as the final documentation is issued.

Key Tips for Delivery

  • Attach a Photo: Schools and receptionists handle many people; a clear photo of the person helps them identify the risk instantly.
  • Keep a Copy: Save a copy of the email or a photo of the letter you handed over so you have proof that the school/workplace was notified.
  • Emergency Contacts: Ensure your own emergency contact list is updated to someone you trust implicitly who is not related to the abuser.
